JAMES ALTON BROWN

James Alton Brown, of Gloucester Point, originally from Glass, died unexpectedly June 12, 2019.

 He was the beloved son of the late Calvin and Bertha Brown; widower of Clarice J. Brown, his wife for 58 years. They both are resting easy in our Savior’s arms, beyond the sunset.

He was retired from the James River Reserve Fleet and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Tina Fleming and Cheryl Wallace of Hayes; special nephew, Justin Fleming; nieces, Jennifer Fleming and Melissa Brown; special friends, Donald, Doug and Smitty, and numerous cousins.

A graveside funeral service conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, June 19 from 6-7 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
