JACQUELINE BUNTING SNODDY

Jacqueline “Jackie” Bunting Snoddy, 82, of Chesterfield, formerly of Sandston, passed away at home on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.

Jackie was born on Aug. 23, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Cecil Claytor Bunting of Highland Springs and the late Leonard C. Bunting of Gloucester County. She was preceded in death by her half-brother, Boyd Bunting of Gloucester.

Jackie is survived by her husband of 55 years, J.N. “Jay” Snoddy Jr.; her brother, Leonard Bunting Jr. (Barbara) of Danville, Va.; twin brother, Charlie Bunting (Cora) of Port Haywood, Va.; half-brother, Sam Bunting (Rosanne) of Gloucester, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Dot Bunting of Franklin, Va., and Nancy Saylor (Bobby) of Ball Ground, Ga. Jackie was like a second mother to six nieces and nephews including David Bunting and Donna Fary of Gloucester.

She was a loving auntie to a host of additional nieces, great-nieces and -nephews. Jackie was a member of Highland Springs United Methodist Church for 70 years and served in numerous secretarial positions within the church. She was the secretary to FitzGerald Bemiss for 54 years. Jackie had a special love for roses, growing them and giving them away.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond. A funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock the same day following visitation at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park, Sandston.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be donated to Highland Springs United Methodist Church, 22 North Holly Avenue, Highland Springs, Va. 23075 or to the VCU Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder Center, P.O. Box 980539, Richmond, Va. 23209-0539.
