JACK ROWE

Jack Rowe, 91, of Gwynn, Va., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Feb. 1, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Vernon Rowe Sr. and Addie Diggs Rowe; his wife, Dorothy Hollowell Rowe; his brothers, Wilson, George V. Jr. “Buddy,” Shelton, and Julian Rowe, and sisters, Christine Holloway, Della Forrest, Eleanor Stevens, Minnie Williams and Emma Lee Knight.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Eddie) Perkins and Carolyn (Steve) Rowe; one granddaughter, Lindsay (Brandon) Haywood; one great-grandson, Tristan Haywood; his sister, Ruby Akins; numerous nieces and nephews, and his dear friend of 13 years, Minnie Bassett, and her children, Debbie Buchanan, Cathy Owens and John Raymond Bassett.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and retired from the federal government. He was kind and generous to everyone and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service was held at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va., at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015. Interment followed at the Gwynn’s Island Cemetery. The family received friends after the service at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church from 4:30-7 p.m.
