Joel Isley finished in 48:05.3 on Saturday to take top prize in the first Mathews Micro-Triathlon of 2019. The triathlon series is being held at Williams Wharf and is sponsored by Virginia Tidewater Trailrunners.
Saturday’s tri included a ¼-mile swim eight-mile bike ride and two-mile run. Coming in second and third among 22 participants were Doug Parades, 53:08.0, and Christopher Wells, 55:56.3.
The top finisher among female participants was Sabrina Myers, 59:28.4, followed by Helen Morris, 1:00:29.0, and Samantha Hess, 1:02:49.1.
Subsequent micro-tris are scheduled at Williams Wharf for July 13, Aug. 17 and Sept. 14. The July and September races will follow Saturday’s format. The tri in August will take a different order: two-mile run, one-mile swim and five-mile bike ride.
