Irving DeWayne Haywood, age 71, of Gloucester Point, died at Riverside Regional Medical Center on Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Charles Clarence and Bernice Hall Haywood, and a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1971. DeWayne was employed at BASF Corporation, Williamsburg, before AMOCO Oil Company, Yorktown, where he retired. He was a true New York Yankee fan, could not wait to fish with his son, and loved his church family at Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Anita West Haywood; their son, Brandon Haywood (Jennifer); grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Audrey, Ella, Oliver, and Teddy; very special brothers, C. Eugene Haywood, and Anthony Haywood; nephews, Shawn Hogge, Brian Hogge, and Seth Green. The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 6-7:30 p.m. The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Michael Condrey and Pastor Bill West, will be held at Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
