Interviews begin for county administrator

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors continued Tuesday night’s meeting until tonight at 6:30 in County Office Building #1 to interview candidates for the county’s next permanent administrator.

Board chairman Ashley Chriscoe said the pool of 36 original applicants that were chosen by a search firm to be interviewed has been narrowed to four.

Chriscoe said meetings, which will be closed to the public, will continue over the next several weeks to interview the four candidates. He said interviews are expected to be completed by Oct. 24. Then the board will need time to negotiate a contract, salary and a start time before an announcement of the new administrator can be made public.

The county’s former county administrator Brenda Garton resigned April 30 to take a job in Frederick County, which has a population more than twice the size of Gloucester. She was Gloucester’s top official since August 2008.
