Susan Johnson of InsideOut Yoga of White Stone recently led a yoga retreat in Morocco for 10 yogis from the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. The theme was “Rock the Kasbah.”
The 14-day journey began with a week at Kasbah Angour, a hotel surrounded by gardens and situated in the Atlas Mountains, about 30 minutes from Marrakech. The week included yoga, meditation, hiking, excursions to Marrakech and Essaouira, and traditional Moroccan meals. The retreat also featured IOY’s positivity workshops, led by Ginger Houck.
“All of our retreats are about elevating your spirit through experiences, practices and the people you’re with,” said Johnson, who has been leading yoga retreats since 2010. “Our focus this year was about embracing the highs and lows of your journey through intention, attention and a positive attitude. You don’t need to go to a retreat center in Morocco to do that. You’ve got a retreat center inside. You can Rock the Kasbah every day for the rest of your life.”
