Ingram retires

Angie Ingram, above, served her last day as Mathews County’s Clerk of Circuit Court on Monday. County officials and others dropped by during the day to see her off and shower her with floral gifts. During the Mathews Board of Supervisors’ July 25 meeting, supervisors presented Ingram with a certificate commending her for years of dedicated service. Ingram served 30 years as a deputy clerk and 11 years as clerk of court. Ingram was replaced by former deputy clerk Elizabeth A. “Beth” Brown, who was sworn in as clerk of court during a ceremony performed by Judge Jeffrey W. Shaw (photo below, shown with Ingram and Brown’s daughter, Lily). Brown is one of three candidates vying for the position of clerk of court. Challenging her on the November ballot are Carrie Phillips Cullison and Susan Brooke Ripley.
