Info session on solar panels to be held Nov. 14

The Middle Peninsula Solar Co-op will hold an information session about solar energy and the co-op process at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the community room at the Gloucester Library, Main Street. The public is invited.

A representative of Shockoe Solar is expected be on hand to discuss upcoming solar projects. The Ashland-based company has been selected to install solar panels for the 38-member solar group. The company was one of seven solar companies bidding on the project, and was selected for its competitive pricing and quality materials, said a press release.

The co-op is open to new members until Jan. 15. Residents interested in joining can sign up at www.vasun.org/middle-peninsula.

Shockoe Solar will provide each co-op member with an individualized proposal based on the group rate, said the release. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants can save up to 20 percent off the cost of their system, according to the release.
