INEZ ADAMS

Inez Adams, age 98, a lifelong resident of Mathews, Va., passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, after a lengthy illness.

She was a lifelong member of Mathews Baptist Church and was active in church activities until she became ill. She enjoyed participating in the Silver Tones singing group, and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Elvin H. “Yankee” Adams, and her brothers, Charles and Thomas Hodges.

Inez is survived by her son, Elvin Adams and wife Yvonne of Yorktown, Va.; grandchildren, Kathy Adams of Yorktown, and Michael Adams and wife Kris; great-grandchildren, Bethany, Matthew, Breanne and Miranda; and great-great-grandson, Theo, all of Phoenix, Ariz. She is also survived by her special niece, Pearl Sadler and her husband Phil of Dixie Knoll, as well as her nephew, Charles Hodges and wife Carolyn of Hudgins, Va.; great-nephews, Billy and Andy Sadler, David Hodges and great-niece, Barbara Ball, and families.

The family received friends on Friday, April 3, 2015, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. A funeral service was held at Mathews Baptist Church on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. Burial followed at H.C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins.

The family would like to thank the staff of Riverside-Mathews Convalescent Center for their care and compassion.
