Indians shut out Devils, 51-0; MHS seeks first win

The Mathews High School football team fell to 0-4 on the season following Friday’s 51-0 shutout loss to Northumberland.

For the Devils’ offense, running back Brett Perriello gained 22 yards, while Alec Thompson picked up 15.

For the defense, rover Josh Monastyrly had six tackles Quinton Dixon had three, corner Jovan Johnson and had three tackles, and defensive tackle John Edwards had three tackles.

Mathews has a bye week this week, returning to action on Friday, Sept. 29, when the Devils will host Rappahannock, starting at 7 p.m.

The following Friday, Oct. 6, Mathews will host King and Queen in the MHS homecoming game. ...
