A ceremony was held on Saturday morning in Gloucester’s historic court circle to commemorate the moment when news of the Declaration of Independence first reached Gloucester County citizens. The roughly hourlong program was filled with patriotic speeches, a fife and drum performance, singing of the National Anthem and “God Bless America” by Ware Academy music teacher Laura Heydt, a public reading of the Declaration of Independence by Sidney Ripley of the Gloucester Museum of History, Lt.
