Improved employee compensation tops Gloucester’s 2018 priorities

Gloucester County government has a lot of exciting things it will be working on in 2018, according to county administrator Brent Fedors; one of which includes a newly-designed website that will be more user-friendly to the public.

However, the most pressing issue that the county will be faced with this year is making sure its employees are better compensated. According to Fedors, this will also include social services and sheriff’s office employees, and also school employees, if the school board so desires.

“We have a profound compensation issue,” Fedors said. “The board (of supervisors) will have some good opportunities this year to put a significant dent in that.” 

In his proposed budget, he will present options to the board to allow them to provide better compensation with no tax increase or as little as possible. “We’re very hopeful to have the opportunity to leverage a significant portion of this without a tax impact,” Fedors...
