Crosspointe, LLC, recently opened an ice house at the Gloucester Point Shopping Center.

Husband and wife owners Mel and Jackie Spruill opened the business on June 29, providing customers with crystal clear ice and water.

The Gloucester Point ice house location is one of two that Crosspointe is opening, the other being in Tappahannock. The Spruills said they were inspired to start Crosspointe after seeing similar ice houses in the South. Gloucester being both prone to hurricanes and having a rural water supply made it a prime location, said Jackie Spruill.

The ice house features Crosspointe’s two brands Twice the Ice and Twice Pure Water. Mel Spruill said the ice house filters county water through nine stages that include reverse osmosis, dechlorination and UV light filtering as its final step. Twice Pure refers to the purification that the county and the ice house’s nine-filter system provides.
