The U15 Swordfish and U10 Hurricanes of the Baystars youth soccer program competed in the Coastal Kickfest Tournament over the weekend in Virginia Beach, placing first and second, respectively, in their divisions. The Swordfish captured the tournament for the second year in a row. Melanie Mueller scored five goals over the weekend for the Swordfish, followed by Leah Hyde, Charlotte Small and Lacey Donnelly with one goal each. Riley Gale and Small served as goalkeepers for the team. The Hurricanes won two out of their three games to place second overall in the U11 division, though they are a U10 team. They defeated the Old Dominion Soccer Club Barracudas, 3-2, and Beach FC Storm, 5-1, on Saturday. The Hurricanes went on to defeat the Chesapeake Soccer Club Galaxy, 5-4, Sunday morning.
