A funeral service for Bishop Hurley Montague Sr. of Gloucester, will be held at 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Ordinary. He died June 20, 2017.
Bishop Montague was a native of North Carolina, and had been a Gloucester resident for many years. He and his wife owned and operated Tidewater Transport, a trucking company, for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Arabella Montague; children, Evelyn Baker, Cynthia Reid, Janie Montague and Hurley Montague Jr., all of Raleigh, North Carolina; stepchildren, Sarita Allena and Cynthia Kelly of Greensboro, North Carolina; Andrea Hart of Newport News, and Carroll Hart Jr. of Suffolk; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
He will lie in state from noon until service time. Burial will be in Gloucester Fields Cemetery, Hayes.
