Humane Society to hold kitten shower April 27

The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society will host a “Kitten Shower” on Saturday, April 27, from 1-3 p.m. in preparation for the busy kitten season. The public is invited to attend this free festive event. GMHS will be accepting much-needed donations from its kitten shower registry, which include dry kitten food, canned kitten food, kitten milk replacer powder, cat toys, cat treats, towels and blankets. For a $20 donation, people can name a future shelter kitten. GMHS will then send a photo of that future kitten to the name-giver. Those who cannot attend the kitten shower in-person can donate through the shelter’s PayPal and include the kitten’s name in the memo. “Kitten season is already in full swing,” said GMHS executive director Charles Brown. “And we want to prepare as best as possible, and that’s with the help of our community.
