Jody Hudson, candidate for the office of Clerk of Mathews Circuit Court, announced Tuesday that she is withdrawing from the race.

Hudson said that after thought and prayer she had decided to support the election of acting clerk Angie Ingram, who was appointed to the position when former clerk Eugene Callis retired last year.

"The changes I wanted to make are being implemented by Angie," said Hudson. "She’s a hard worker and she’ll serve the citizens well. We’ve been friends a long time and she does a good job. I wish her the best."

Voter registrar Ruth Ann Hutson said that Hudson’s name will not appear on the Nov. 5 ballot since ballots have not yet been printed.
