Hudson dead of gunshot wound

Retired Virginia State Police Master Trooper T.E. Hudson of Hudgins was found dead of a gunshot wound at his Ballast Point Road property, according to state police public information officer Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a gunshot victim. When deputies arrived on scene, they found a deceased male subject inside a camper located on the property of his residence, Anaya said.

State police were notified by 1:40 p.m. Tuesday and responded to the scene. The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for examination and autopsy.

The deceased was identified as Hudson, 53, who retired from Virginia State Police on Jan. 1, 2014 after 26 years of service. He joined the state police force in 1988.
