Hudgins Pharmacy changes hands

Little did Bailey D. and C. Bernard Hudgins know when they opened what is now Hudgins Pharmacy in Mathews Court House in 1922 that their business would still be alive and well nearly 100 years later.
The pharmacy, once known as Hudgins Drug Store, is located in the Farmers and Fishermens Building in Mathews. Pharmacist Robert May was the most recent local owner.
But several changes went into effect in early October. Dora Holdings of New Jersey purchased the pharmacy from May. May has switched from the principal pharmacist to the relief pharmacist.
Longtime backup pharmacist Diana Bandurco is now the lead pharmacist. Steven King, chief compliance officer for Dora’s corporate headquarters in Florida, said that Bandurco has also been named pharmacy manager.
“We are very excited to acquire a new store,” King said of Dora being a conglomerate that plans to maintain the present staff and good quality service at the Mathews store.
