HRSD pipeline to serve Saluda, Urbanna

Construction of a sewage pipeline to serve Saluda and Urbanna in Middlesex County is expected to begin this fall. It will connect to the Hampton Roads Sanitation District at the intersection of Twiggs Ferry Road and Buckley Hall Road in the Cobbs Creek/Dutton area of Mathews.

The $34.5 million project will involve decommissioning sewage treatment plants in Saluda and Urbanna and instead sending the effluent through pump stations and pipelines to the HRSD treatment facility in Yorktown.

A small diameter transmission force main will be routed to the HRSD system by following General Puller Highway to Hartfield and continuing down Route 3, passing beneath the Piankatank River, and traveling down Twiggs Ferry Road to the existing Mathews pipeline.

To accommodate the increased flow in the pipeline, pumps and controls will be upgraded at the pump stations on Windsor Road in Mathews and John Clayton Memorial Highway in Gloucester.

No road closures, detours, or appreciable changes ...
