Housing developments remain focus at tonight’s planning meeting

Housing developments remain the focus of attention for the Gloucester Planning Commission this month, as The Villas retirement community will be addressed tonight.

The commission’s monthly meeting will be held in the colonial courthouse, starting at 7 p.m.

Staff documents describe the project as being in the “pre-license” phase, with much of the documentation focusing on the specific details of the community and site plan.

With a site plan and rezoning dating back to 2007, The Villas parcel is 59.5 acres located slightly north of Business Route 17 in Gloucester near Fox Mill Run subdivision and Walmart.

It represents one of a series of Villas communities constructed throughout the Middle Peninsula and Southside. Yorktown, Poquoson and Smithfield have similar communities under a parent corporation—EPCON Communities.
