Household chemicals to be collected Oct. 15

Gloucester County’s Fall 2016 Household Harmful Waste Collection Day will be held from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Guinea Road Convenience Center.

Clean Community Coordinator Rene Moring said the event is “the best way for Gloucester County residents to rid their homes of hazardous items that is safe for their family, community and the environment.”

The collection will accept items such as hazardous automobile waste (antifreeze, brake and transmission fluids, gasoline and gasoline mixtures), and automotive and lead-acid storage batteries. Moring said that used motor oil can be routinely recycled at any of the county’s convenience centers.

Residents can also dispose of painting supplies (paints, thinners, solvents, epoxies, wood preservatives), gardening, yard and household chemicals (e.g., pesticides, herbicides, household cleaners, mercury, pool chemicals), and main computers and monitors.
