Household chemical collection to be held Saturday in Hartfield

Residents and property owners of Mathews and Middlesex counties will have an opportunity on Saturday to clean out their kitchen and bath cabinets, sheds, garages and attics.

Household chemicals will be accepted at a collection, to be held at the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department at 3309 Twiggs Ferry Road, in Hartfield, from 8 a.m. to noon.

The collection, sponsored by Mathews County, Middlesex County and the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority (VPPSA), will provide an outlet for materials not accepted at the transfer stations or convenience centers. The collection is open to all residents and property owners of Mathews and Middlesex counties at no cost. Proof of residency or property ownership will be required.
