Household chemical collection to be held in Cobbs Creek

A household chemical collection and computer recycling event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19 at Star Fields, 2905 Buckley Hall Road, Cobbs Creek.

Residents and property owners from Mathews County, as well as Middlesex, Essex, King and Queen and King William counties, will have an opportunity to dispose of household chemicals properly at the site between 8 a.m. and noon.

The collection event, sponsored by the participating counties and the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority, will provide an outlet for unwanted materials not accepted at transfer stations or convenience centers. There is no cost to participate; proof of residency or property ownership will be required.

Household chemicals to be accepted include household maintenance products (paints, stains and solvents), automotive products (old gasoline and other fuels, gas and oil mixtures, brake fluid, hydraulic fluid, engine cleaners, solvents and lubricants), lawn and garden products (insecticides, pesticides, weed ki...
