Hound Hunters and Landowners

A Hound Hunters and Landowners meeting held by the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources last Thursday was packed, with an attentive standing-room-only audience, but offered no resolution for landowners who have complained about hunting dogs on their property and other issues. “We have only received more complaints about hunting,” said Sheriff April Edwards. She said she and DWR representative David Moore are working on forming a committee of hunters and landowners who are willing to sit down together to try to iron out problems that arise, but she’s still waiting for landowner volunteers. She said she’ll soon be providing information on the laws relating to hunting “to make sure everyone is on the same page about what the law says.”...
