The preliminary hearing in the child pornography, forcible sodomy, and human trafficking case against William Wellington “Billy” Hooper of Mathews was continued on Wednesday morning at the request of Mathews Commonwealth’s Attorney Tom Bowen. The rescheduled hearing will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 30, in Gloucester Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
In addition, similar charges that had been brought in both Mathews and Gloucester counties against Jennifer Hutchens in a related case were nolle prossed, so that she can be tried in federal court.
Speaking before Judge Sharon B. Will of Mathews Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, Bowen said that Hutchens had been indicted by the federal government and was due to be arraigned in Norfolk this morning.
Bowen asked for the continuance in the Hooper case because he said that he had received no evidence back from the forensics investigator from the four computers and mobile telephone that had been confiscated ...
