William W. “Billy” Hooper, 53, of Williams Wharf Road in Mathews remains in custody after his request for bail was denied Monday in Mathews County General District Court.

Hooper, who is charged with seven felonies involving sexual offenses with minors, was arrested in LaPlata, Maryland, on Nov. 22 and extradited last week to Mathews.

Judge Stephanie E. Merritt left it up to Commonwealth’s Attorney Tom Bowen and Hooper’s attorney Conrad Bareford to set a date for a preliminary hearing. ...
