About 40 students from Mathews High School and Thomas Hunter Middle School traveled to Charles City in February to audition for the Northern Neck/Middle Peninsula Junior and Senior Area Honor Bands. Mathews had 32 students either qualify for the Honor Bands or place as an alternate to the event. These students will travel to the Northern Neck/Middle Peninsula Area Honor Band on March 20 and 21 to rehearse and perform alongside students from bands around the region.
