Ebony Nickens is owner of Home Care Associates, LLC, working from 6834 Coleman’s Crossing Avenue in Hayes.

The business was established in 2018 and offers personal care and companionship services to the senior and disabled community, Nickens said. “Our nursing staff provides bathing, meal prep, laundry, mobility assistance and medication reminders to our clients,” she said, in describing the services.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unforeseen hardship: “Staffing has been most difficult through the pandemic. We have incurred a lot of referrals and requests for care, but sometimes it has been difficult to find staffing for new cases,” Nickens said.

A native of Richmond, Nickens has a background in human resources management, holding a bachelor’s degree in human resources and master’s in management and leadership.

She credits her business partner, Latosha Veney, and her husband, Vincent Nickens Jr., community liaison, for their contributions to the company.
