Holy Week services continue in Gloucester, Mathews

The Mathews County Christian Ministerial Association continues its Holy Week services at noon through Friday at Westville Christian Church, Main Street, Mathews.

Speakers include: today, the Rev. Gary Barker of Kingston Episcopal Parish, and Friday, Pastor Marcus Stallworth of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church.

Special artwork will be displayed by artists Gary Edmondson and Irene Sowell, which will be miniature versions of the Stations of the Cross.
In Gloucester

The Gloucester Union Relief Association of Missionary Baptist continues its Holy Week services at 7 p.m. through Friday at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Gloucester.

The Rev. Edgar Graham of the First United Baptist Church, White Marsh, spoke on Wednesday. The Rev. Willie Dickerson of Union Zion Baptist Church, Ware Neck, will speak at the communion service tonight. Pastors are to wear their robes, deacons wear black and deaconesses wear white. They are asked to sit together, a release said. The Rev. Bradley Holmes of St. Paul Baptist Church, Gloucester, will speak on Friday.

The Rev. Ward Warren, pastor of First Baptist Church, Ordinary, and GURA Assistant Chaplain, is the Holy Week chairperson and the Rev. James Harris, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Gloucester, is a committee member.
