Holy Week observances in Mathews resume Monday

For the first time since 2019, the Mathews County Christian Ministerial Association will hold Holy Week services at noon Monday through Friday, April 15, at Westville Christian Church, Mathews. These services had been canceled for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participants for the services will include:

Monday: worship leader, the Rev. Dede Parrish of Beulah/St. Paul UMC, music by the Rev. Gary Barker of Kingston Parish Episcopal Church, the message by the Rev. Marcus Stallworth of Mathews Chapel UMC, and accompanist, Nancy Layng.

Tuesday: worship leader, the Rev. Jennifer Mercer of West Mathews Charge UMC, music by the Rev. Bob Huff of Westville Baptist Church, message by the Rev. Huff and accompanist, Kathryn Diggs.

Wednesday: worship leader, the Rev. Mr. Barker, music, Fido Stephens of Westville Christian Church, message, the Rev. Jennifer Mercer of West Mathews Charge UMC, and accompanist, Mrs. Diggs.

Thursday: worship leader, the Rev. Tom Bunting of New Friends Church, music, Susan Ripley of Beulah UMC, message, the Rev. Mr. Barker, and accompanist, Mrs. Layng.

Friday: worship leader, the Rev. Charlie Moore of Salem UMC music, Suzi Maloney of St. Paul UMC, message, the Rev. Dede Parrish, and accompanist, Mrs. Layng.

A basket for non-perishable donations for Hands Across Mathews will be at the entrance of the church.
