Del. Keith Hodges (R-Middlesex) will host Friday’s Virginia Rural Coastal Summit at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science’s Waterman’s Hall, Gloucester Point.
The Virginia Rural Coastal Summit, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., brings together federal, state and local policymakers to collaborate and explore opportunities for economic enhancement in the Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck and Eastern Shore, according to a Gloucester County press release. The summit will also address the formation of the Rural Coastal Virginia Community Enhancement Authority.
The authority was created to address the specific needs faced exclusively by the rural areas of coastal Virginia and to give the region a unified voice and programmatic structure to compete for the financial opportunities available for economic development while at the same time preserving and enhancing the region’s culture, economy and environment.
