Hodges to chair Counties, Cities and Towns Committee

Del. Keith Hodges (R-Middlesex) was appointed Tuesday to serve as chair of the Counties, Cities and Towns Committee in the Virginia House of Delegates when the 2022 General Assembly is seated in January.

The 22-member Counties, Cities and Towns Committee is one of 14 standing committees in the Virginia House, responsible for overseeing such matters as charters, land use, and other local issues as they arise and require legislative oversight.

According to Legislative Aide Mike Hazlewood, responsibilities could extend to considering such issues as tall grass enforcement and junk on property when localities seek to increase the fines for infractions.

House Speaker-designee Todd Gilbert recently announced appointments of chairs to 12 standing committees, saying the new leadership team for the House “will bring a wealth of experience to their new assignments … I look forward to working with all of them to enact our shared common-sense, conservative agenda.”
