Abingdon Ruritan Club members and guests heard a presentation from archaeologist Thane Harpole at their February meeting. Harpole has been co-director of the Fairfield Foundation since its founding in 2000. He spoke primarily on Timberneck and efforts that have been undertaken to preserve the historic home, which is a part of Machicomoco State Park, Hayes. His talk captured the history of early settlers in Gloucester County. Harpole is shown with club programs chair Mary Lou Privott.
