History book sale begins Saturday

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society invites the public to pop in for a pop-up “History Lovers’ Book Sale” on Saturday, as well as next Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The book sale will be held at the new Dunton Library for Genealogy & History on the LVHS campus at 8346 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster. A special pre-sale day for LVHS members only will be held on Friday from noon to 6 p.m. New members may join at the door for $35 annual dues. The sale will feature more than 500 like-new and gently-used non-fiction books related to U.S. and world history from ancient to modern times, biographies, politics, military and more. Most items will be priced at $5 or less, according to LVHS executive director Karen Hart. In particular, there will be large selections about Virginia, the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War II, and 20th century leaders and events.
