Historical Society to hold Holiday Open House Saturday afternoon

The Mathews County Historical Society will host a Holiday Open House from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Tompkins Cottage on Brickbat Road and at Puddin’s Creek House on Church Street in Mathews.

Puddin’s Creek House is the former Methodist parsonage adjacent to Central United Methodist Church that is now the home of Tom Karow and Cheryl Dale.

Costumed docents, holiday refreshments, and festive decorations, including wreaths made by the Garden Club of Mathews, will make the holidays bright, while ornaments, publications, Capt. Sally Tompkins dolls, and locally made artisan items will be offered for sale.

Admission is $5 to Puddin’s Creek House and free to Tompkins Cottage. Parking will be at Central Church.
