Historic Gloucester notecards

As a fundraiser, the Ware River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons had produced a series of historical notecards depicting views of downtown Gloucester during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, painted by Gloucester artist Pete Atkinson. The group netted a profit of $1,200 from this initial run. A second batch of the notecards has been printed by the Gazette-Journal and sets are now available for purchase at the Gloucester County Visitor Center or through Circle members. All profits benefit the children at the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, which has helped hundreds of children from Gloucester and Mathews counties, a release stated. Shown with the cards are Atkinson, at left, and Charlie Woerner, past president of the Ware River Circle. Photo by Charlie Koenig ...
