The Garden Club of Gloucester and Mathews held the 89th celebration of Historic Garden Week on Saturday with four Mathews homes—Eastham, Riverlawn, Samarkand and The Cottage—on this year’s tour. The sold-out tour fell on a beautiful day for tour goers who explored the ins and outs of the historic locations. Christ Episcopal Church was tour headquarters. Shuttles escorted the 225 visitors around the three stops located on Williams Wharf Road; they drove to Samarkand.
