HILDEGARD KATHARINA KLEIN HATCHER

Hildegard Katharina Klein Hatcher passed away peacefully on July 23, 2016, at her farm in Gloucester.

She was born in Gross-Umstadt, Germany, on August 14, 1929. She moved to the United States in 1956 and became an American citizen shortly thereafter. She has had a very active, prosperous and full life of involvement in a multitude of professional and personal activities. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her will share a warm, ofttime humorous story of their times with Hilda.

She was always available to tell fascinating stories of surviving the war years in Germany; as well as the captivating tales of life in her beautiful German village. No matter how hectic her schedule was, she would always make time to listen and help everyone that came to her office.

As she departs to her Heavenly home, she has left a tremendous void in the lives of many of her close friends; she was surrounded by friends from her Civil Air Patrol days, her 12-year faculty career at Hampton Roads Academy and her 35 years as owner of Tidemill Business Service.

She will be missed by her dear friend, Nick Hatcher, who shared her life for many wonderful years. She will also be dearly missed by her brother, Helmut Klein, and her remaining family in Germany. She leaves behind her beloved horse Olivia, her buddy Sam the dog, and her cat Twinkie.

A special thanks to her caregiver and dear friend, Oma Kennedy, who was her devoted companion until the end.

Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Gifts in Hilda’s memory can be made to the Animal Resource Foundation, 4938 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes, Va. 23072.

Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
