Hidden herons

The herons in this tree at a marshy point on the Severn River in Hayes are well camouflaged. The photographer first thought there were four herons, but on closer inspection she saw that each of the lower two nests had three birds, so there are eight herons. “It was like ‘Where’s Waldo,’ as I kept seeing more,” she said.
