On June 25, 2016, at 91 years young in mind and spirit, Hester (Het, Mom, G-Ma, Nana) Creed Dries,  of Diggs, Va., and Fincastle, Va., passed on to the next life.  

Predeceased by husband, Richard H. Dries, and survived by son, Richard E. Dries (Ginger) of Kennebunkport, Maine; daughter, Karen D. Weaver (John) of Diggs; five grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Typical of those who grew up during the Depression, she exemplified the qualities of independence, resourcefulness, and creativity. Life’s ups and downs were handled with grace, patience, and humor. She set the bar for family and friends as a compassionate listener and enthusiastic supporter, and imparted her love of Nature, and family, to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
