Although he has been cooking for some time, his kitchen talents have turned to baking and “it’s been exciting and fun.” Mike Harrison’s cake-making is well received, and he’s has only been baking for a month and a half. “I want to take up bread making next.”

Mike and his wife Polly agreed some time ago that whoever got home first from work prepared dinner. “Most of the time being in service, I was the one who arrived home first, so that’s’’ how I started cooking. My cooking is just basic. You know, the usual meal one would have for dinner: a meat, couple vegetables or a salad.”

On how he got into cake baking Mike explained, “I made some cookie sandwiches (two cookies put together with a filling) to take to the office. Everyone really thought they were good.
