Herschel Wayne Smith, age 65, of Gloucester, died on Friday, June 13, 2025. Wayne was born on June 11, 1960, to the late William Herschel and Goldie Raye Brown Smith. Wayne worked as a tile setter. In his earlier years, Wayne enjoyed racing cars. He enjoyed the simple things in life, as he was a very private person. He was a kind soul, a true friend and brother. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Karin Smith. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Tabitha Lynn Smith Schwartz (Greg). He also leaves behind a son, Brian, and two grandchildren; brother, Robert Keith Smith; aunt, Corinne “Dee-Dee” Gentile; uncle, Thomas Brown; dear family friend, Susan Dugan, and many beloved cousins also survived him. In memory of Wayne, contributions may be made to Riverside Hospice, 7358 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
