HERMAN C. CROCKER JR.

Herman C. Crocker Jr., 84, of Cobbs Creek, Va., joined his wife Ruthanne and their parents in God’s Kingdom on Friday, April 19, 2013, at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.

Herman, born April 18, 1929 in Binghamton, N.Y., was a faithful servant of the Lord at Mathews Chapel, a beloved husband for more than 62 years, a father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Known as Herm to his friends and family, he took greatest pleasure when surrounded by his family, friends and church family. Herm loved gardening, working on cars, traveling and crossword puzzles.

Herm served with the U.S. Army Air Corps and later in the U.S. Air Force between WWII and Korea and later retired from federal service having spent more than 34 years with the Department of Defense in the Pentagon.

Herm was a devoted husband and caring father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His love was unconditional and eternal.

Herm is survived by his daughter, Carol Uffelman; his son, Kevin Crocker; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Hildred Carpenter, and Beverly Masters, and brother, Richard Crocker.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, in Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, Cobbs Creek, Va. Herman and Ruthanne will be inurned in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery later this fall.
