On May 13, 2016 Helga Benfield of Saluda, passed after 76 years on this earth.

She was the daughter of Herman and Luise Prochnow, and spouse of the late Adam S. Benfield, whom she was wed to for a wonderful 49 years.

She is remembered by her loving family including her son, Martin; her son, Roger and his wife Diane; her daughter, Christina and her husband Edward; her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was born in Neuhof, Germany, on September 30, 1939, and was a woman of many worlds and experiences. She brought a light and insight to every story she told and every event she visited. She will be missed by any who had the pleasure to meet her and will be remembered as a true matriarch to those she is survived by.

The family received friends on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., with funeral services starting at 7:30 at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
