Helen Smith, 87, of Mathews, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Welford Smith, and children, Jeffery Smith, Darla Robinson and Sandra Carter.

She is survived by sons and daughters, Welford T. Smith, Sharon Washington, Velvet Boyd, and Jason Smith; two sisters, Stella Breckenridge and Barbara Jones; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A viewing will be held from noon-1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, followed by a memorial service at 1 o’clock at Zion Baptist Church, 3546 East River Road, Cardinal, Va. 23025.

Carter Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
