Heavy rains called for boats on roads

The rainfall of last Friday night and Saturday in and around Diggs was the worst known in more than 50 years. In many parts of the county boats had to be used on the public roads.

Mr. and Mrs. Buck Diggs of Baltimore are spending some time with their son, Mr. Geo. Diggs. It is the first time his mother has visited Mathews in 40 years.

Cobbs Creek: A very exciting game of ball was played here Saturday afternoon by the Mobjack and C.C. teams. Both sides worked hard and the ninth inning proved the home team successful, the score being 8 to 7.

Mr. Robert Sadler Jr. and Miss Susie Ashbury, both of Foster, were quietly married at West Mathews parsonage by Rev. T.W. Ogden.
