HeartChase fundraiser a tribute to Gloucester man’s daughter

Heart disease hits Gloucester’s county attorney Ted Wilmot close to home.

But instead of sitting back waiting for a cure, he is taking action to organize a major, unique fundraiser for the American Heart Association. HeartChase Gloucester will take place along Main Street on Saturday, June 14.

Wilmot’s daughter, Kendall, passed away suddenly last June due to two undetected heart conditions—Long QT syndrome, a disorder of the heart’s electrical activity, and mitral valve prolapse, a condition in which the heart’s mitral valve doesn’t work well.

Before her death, Kendall was active on her high school’s field hockey and tennis teams, and was valedictorian of her high school class in Hopewell.

“She was a wonderful daughter,” Wilmot said. “She was the light of our lives.”
