Toril Oien Eller recently became an independent contractor offering reflexology for Heart Felt Touch Massage Therapy in Gloucester.

Eller joins Ginger Platsis, a certified massage therapist, in the business, which is located in the DeHardit House on Lewis Avenue in Gloucester Court House.

Oien Eller said that she usually spends an hour working on a client’s feet or hands. Sometimes she offers 30-minute session for chronic cases.

Reflexology can aid the entire body, Oien Eller said, with different parts of soles of the feet linked by the nerves in different parts of the rest of the body.

Reflexology dates from at least 5,000 years ago, Oien Eller said, and was practiced as a healing technique by the Chinese, Egyptians and Native Americans.
